1260 Squadron Newark & District Royal Air Force Air Cadets

1260 Squadron Newark & District Royal Air Force Air Cadets

Fundraiser: Saturday, 30th August 2025 – 10:00 to 16:00

1260 Squadron Newark & District Royal Air Force Air Cadets are a uniformed youth group, established in 1941 and at any one time have some 40 Air Cadets from Newark and the surrounding area who are aged 12 to 18. We meet at our base on Sherwood Avenue, Newark every Tuesday and Thursday evening as well as most weekends when our Cadets get do everything from flying and gliding to adventure training and parades such as the Battle of Britain and Remembrance.

To ensure that all of our Air Cadets are able to attend activities which take place away from Newark, for example Flying from RAF Cranwell, Gliding from RAF Syerston, visits to active RAF bases including RAF Waddington as well as taking place in D of E Expeditions and a wide range of sports we provide safe, free, transport using our own mini bus.

However, our mini bus, having served our Cadets well since 2009 is in need of being replaced and we are raising finds to purchase a more flexible option, a mixed people and equipment carrier.

We are starting our fund raising with an open day at our HQ in Newark on Saturday 30th August 2025 when the focal point will be an onsite ‘cycle ride’ using static training bikes to simulate Air Cadets, and some adult supporters, cycling from Newark to RAF Lossiemouth, 390 miles and raising money through sponsorship.

We would be delighted to welcome members of Newark RAFA to visit us on Saturday 30th August anytime between 10.00 to 16.00 and wish our Air Cadets and adult volunteers well in their endeavours. If you would like to ‘cycle’ a little of the journey you would be most welcome.

Kind regards

Steve Derbyshire
