Battle of Britain ceremony – Newark 14 Sept

85th Battle of Britain Ceremony

Today, RAFA Newark & District Branch commemorated the 85th anniversary of the Battle of Britain. The Mayor and our Chairman (Michael Reilly) gave two admirable speeches in the town hall. Followed by wreath laying at the war memorial and a poignant mini-service. The first wreath layer was of course Air Chief Marshall Sir Andrew Pulford.

Elspeth White and Margaret Flint represented the Branch for the wreath laying. Just before 11am a Merlin engined Spitfire flew over us three times, returning us abruptly to the 2nd World War. Below are a few images of the morning.
